California Historical Society Gala Celebrating The Honorable George P. Shultz
Tickets are not on Sale.

The Old U.S. Mint | 88 Fifth Street, San Francisco

The California Historical Society Celebrates The Honorable George P. Shultz at a gala dinner celebration benefiting CHS and youth history education in California.

George P. Shultz is a tireless servant to our democratic ideals, with a lifelong devotion to scholarship and civic engagement. In 1972, while serving as Secretary of the Treasury in the Nixon Administration, Dr. Shultz helped save the Old U.S. Mint from demolition, preserving one of the most important historic buildings in the western United States.

In 2016, the City and County of San Francisco selected the California Historical Society, the State’s official historical society, as its partner on the Old U.S. Mint Restoration Project. Together we are exploring the 1874 National Historic Landmark as the Society’s future headquarters and a center for history and learning.
